Spotlight Toy Maker: Manzanita Kids

Manzanita Kids makes toys that definitely compel me to shout from the rooftops how gorgeous they are. When I first laid eyes on our Hungry Caterpillar puzzle, I thought it was a thing of beauty, and with the smooth, hardwoods it even feels beautiful! I love that the pieces are hefty enough to stand up and be stacked, and can take on another creative function.  My daughter has loved this puzzle on so many levels from the start.  Even before she was old enough to complete it, she still loved playing with the individual pieces.  I have had my eye on their modular pieces for some time now, and dream of my daughter filling her imagination with castles and knights...

Manzanita Kids uses American hardwoods like maple, cherry and walnut, that are sanded by hand and finished with their own beeswax/jojoba blend. According to their site, the birch plywood they use for their modular toys is "of the highest quality and exceeds the strict requirements set by the European Union and the California Environmental Protection Agency." These toys are simply spectacular and would not only make a wonderful addition to any home, but would make exceptional gifts as well.

They have a fantastic selection of their unique modular sets, blocks, puzzles, stackers and rattles or teethers.  All look extremely well crafted and will easily assume their role as an heirloom toy that can be passed down from generation to generation.

Manzanita Kids is owned by Adrienne and David, who design and make all of their toys in their Seattle home.  They use sustainably harvested wood whenever possible.  They have an etsy page, as well as their own website.  They are also open to custom orders
so they are definitely worth checking out!
